What is the NM Out-of-School Time Network (NMOSTN)?

The New Mexico Out-of-School Time Network is a project of the New Mexico Forum for Youth in Community (the Forum) focused on:

  • Building a diverse statewide afterschool network.
  • Garnering the resources necessary to support NM out-of-school time opportunities for school-age children.
  • Assessing breadth and depth of out-of-school time programming in NM and tying to varied program supports.
  • Influencing NM State policy and legislation as defined by out-of-school time network stakeholders from across NM.
  • Identifying out-of-school time indicators of well-being for NM children and youth connected to Children's Cabinet outcomes.
  • Identifying additional partners with a role to play.
  • Being present to discuss afterschool challenges and promising/best practices.
  • Contributing to the "story" of why afterschool may not be fully accessible to all NM children and youth.
  • Contributing to an afterschool data development agenda.

GOALS:

  • Create a sustainable structure of Statewide, regional and local partnerships, particularly community-based partnerships, focused on supporting policy development at all levels.

  • Support the development and growth of statewide policies that will secure the resources that are needed to sustain new and existing Afterschool programs.

  • Support statewide systems to ensure programs are of high quality.
